EMPORIO ARMANI Spring/Summer 2011 | "A MAN" Collection

Technical innovation, superb construction, original finishes, reconfigured materials – the Spring/Summer 2011 Emporio Armani menswear collection is a statement of contemporary values. The fabrics are lighter, reduced, transformed. There is a loose featherweight weave for a stunning take on the blazer, coated yarns for constructed gilets that are virtually jackets, and trenches as lightweight as shirts. These are genuine objects of desire for a completely refreshed wardrobe.

For summer sun, even city wear has been pared down. Jackets lose their sleeves, and trousers are replaced by Bermudas, which are always teamed with leggings. Small transparent inserts emphasize the stitching on the jackets, while shirts are in featherweight creponne. Leather features throughout – from trousers to jackets and blousons – and is given star treatment with laser cuts and animal print: armadillo, tortoise, crocodile, fish scales.
Unusual motifs become graphic themes, such as the chain print on shirts, scarves and slim biker jackets as informal as a gilet. Burnished chains feature as belts and braces and accessories with powerful erotic appeal, like the small triangle in metal mesh to be knotted like a mini scarf. Piercing gives a fluid momentum to the surface of leather that almost looks knitted, as well as to stretch cotton.

As summer is almost over, every girl is eager to find out the next fall/winter 2010-2011 fashion trends. Military, '50s and '70s, minimalist, and androgynous are some of the styles that better characterize this season's trends, reflecting the woman wearing them through versatility and pragmatism.

When talking about fall/winter 2010-2011 fashion trends, practicality, versatility, and moderation are the best words that one can use in order to describe them. It's all about wearable items and tempered colors. As for the main approaches, there are a few that really stand out, such as the military style, the '50s and the '70s style, or the masculine look. Here are the main fashion trends for fall/winter 2010-2011.

The military style for fall/winter 2010-2011 means, first of all, chic. And if there is one basic piece to keep in mind and in which you should invest, that is the aviator jacket, made from leather or shearling, and inspired by the aviators from the Royal Air Force during the Second World War. '50s Style. It is said that fashion keeps reinventing itself like a cyclic, perpetual motion. There are certain elements inspired from the '50s that came back in today's fashion trends. For fall/winter 2010-2011, we can see a retro touch that has been used by fashion designers in their collections. Midi skirts and dresses, below the knee, A-line skirts, emphasized waist, long gloves, square-toed, block-heeled pumps trimmed with flat bows, and the doctor's bag are the basic elements specific to the '50s that were spotted at Louis Vuitton or Marc Jacobs. Also, at Prada, one can see the '50s dresses in a fantastic combination of colors, while at Alexander Wang, the disco approach can be observed.

'70s Style. The '70s can be considered as being one of the most chic eras of all times in matters of style and fashion. Flared pants, breezy shirts and blouses, long dresses, and autumnal colors are the main elements reflecting a '70s approach. This type of pants, with a high-waist, look perfect when matched with tucked-in breezy blouses, feminine vests with a boho touch, and ankle boots with wooden heel. For fall/winter 2010-2011, the '70s style was spotted at Chloé, Balmain, Gianfranco Ferré, and Gucci.

Minimalist style is described by simple, yet very chic clothes, with clear lines, without embellishments. The fabrics used are high-quality ones, while the colors are plain, sober ones, such as white, black, gray, beige, and navy blue. Simple, yet very sophisticated lines were spotted at Stella McCartney who presented tailored suits and jackets in an amazing minimalist approach. Also, Phoebe Philo from Céline used special fabrics, emphasizing their beauty and luxury through minimalism, while at Gucci, the mixture between minimalism and over-refined elements had as result a sophisticated collection.

As for the shoes, thigh-high boots and mountain boots are a very smart choice, but also high-heeled moccasins, pointed-toe shoes, and a pair of furry boots.
