At the beginning of the 2010 season, he started poorly; losing in the first rounds of the Brisbane International, Heineken Open, the Australian Open, and at the SAP Open. However he finally registered his first win in the tour, at the 2010 Regions Morgan Keegan Championships in style, as he beat no.2 seed Fernando Verdasco 7–6(4), 6–3 in the first round. This is arguably his best win to date and only his second ever win against a top 10 player.

WITH her humanitarian work and Hollywood ambitions, Jelena Jankovic could draw parallels with Angelina Jolie of the bee-stung lips.

When this is put to her, Jankovic momentarily agrees, but points out she identifies more with the woman who played the call-girl in Pretty Woman.

"Yeah," Jankovic said. "But actually my favourite one is Julia Roberts."

With Jankovic's hearty giggles and the big toothy smile, there are similarities with Roberts.

Becoming a glamorous film star is an ambition of the world No. 3, who has already been offered a bit part in a Serbian sitcom.

A respected Serbian film director also called her up recently to offer her a role, to which Jankovic responded: "Are you kidding?" He wasn't and now she's starting to take the acting thing more seriously.

"I want to do some acting classes so I can do some of the work," Jankovic said. "Because people say I'm really talented and I have a good sense of humour. They say I have charisma. They say I am good in front of the camera.

"I would love to do something like that in the future. But obviously tennis is my No. 1 priority."

Tired and still struggling with injury, Jankovic worked hard to defeat France's Virginie Razzano 6-2, 4-6, 6-1 and advance to the fourth round of the Australian Open yesterday.

Jarmila Groth Top Pics 2009

Jarmila Groth of Australia has advanced to the second round of the WTA event in Morocco on Tuesday by beating Paula Fondevila Castro of Spain 6-3 7-5.

Groth will next play second-seeded Alisa Kleybanova of Russia who easily accounted for Corinna Dentoni 6-2 6-4, breaking her Italian opponent's serve twice in each set.

Top-seeded Anabel Medina Garrigues of Spain advanced with a commanding 6-1 6-1 win over Camille Pin of France.

Medina Garrigues, who lost last year's final to Gisela Dulko, won 86 per cent of points on her first serve and broke Pin six times.

She next faces Klara Zakopalova of the Czech Republic, who beat Urzula Radwanska of Poland 7-5 6-2.

Shahar Peer, who was denied a visa for a tournament in the United Arab Emirates earlier this year, also advanced beating Aravane Rezai of France 6-4 2-6 6-4.

The 53rd-ranked Peer was playing in an Arab country for the first time since she was denied a visa for the Dubai Tennis Championships in February.

At the time, Dubai authorities cited security fears to justify their decision, which came as many Arab countries stepped up their boycott against Israel in the wake of its deadly military offensive in the Gaza Strip.

Seventh-seeded Roberta Vinci of Italy avoided an upset when she rallied from a set down to defeat Mariana Duque Marino of Colombia 2-6 6-4 6-1.
